This two part epoxy adhesive gives the bond strength of a one part adhesive and exceeds the stiffness, strength and crash performance of premium two part structural adhesives.

3M™ Structural Adhesive SA9822 is induction cured to handling strength and allows for carbon fiber and other components to be effectively bonded to metals such as aluminum without distortion or resin degradation. The adhesive features controlled reactivity for a longer work time (approximately 30 minutes) and proper panel lock up after induction heating for accelerated curing.

An Adhesive for Enabling Lightweight Design
As automotive OEMs are using more and more lightweight materials such as aluminum and thin steel panels, the hemming process for hoods, trunks, and doors becomes more complex.  The need for mixed material joints is growing, as well as improved vehicle stiffness and better driving characteristics without sacrificing reliable manufacturing processes.

3M™ Structural Adhesive SA9822 eliminates the expense of pre cure ovens associated with 1K solutions on aluminum parts, and helps significantly reduce quality defects during production. It can be pre cured with induction to prevent parts from moving during transport or during the e coat bath before final bake. This helps minimize panel distortion after the e coat oven, increases design flexibility, and reduces cycle time.
