3M™ Cold Shrink End Cap EC-1

Environmentally seal and mechanically protect exposed cable ends with 3M™ Cold Shrink End Cap EC-1. It’s suitable for protecting cables, pipes and other cylindrical objects from exposure to moisture, contamination, corrosion, ozone, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, physical contact and other environmental hazards.Our EC-1 end cap accommodates cable sizes 11.6-20.9 mm, length as supplied 60 mm, length after free recovery 65 mm and total length of supporting spiral 80 mm.It can be quickly and cleanly installed without the need of tools, mastics, tapes, grease, torches or heat, and requires no training for installation. It’s designed using our unique Cold Shrink delivery system and is supplied pre-stretched on a removable core for quick and easy installation. Unwinding and removing the core after positioning allows the sleeve to shrink into position, forming a moisture-tight seal. The live memory action of the specially formulated material ensures a permanent, durable environmental seal and insulation.To remove the installed end cap, simply lift the edge of the end cap, slice the material with a utility knife and it comes off cleanly, leaving no adhesive, residue or grease.The EPDM Cold Shrink material resists abrasion, fungus, acids or alkalis, and retains its resiliency for years. Freezing or overheating due to ambient temperatures encountered during shipping, storage or in process in a trench doesn’t impair the end cap.This end cap has a 5-year shelf life from date of manufacture, when stored at the recommended temperature of 10-27 °C at < 75 % relative humidity.
